Welcome to our hive! QuiltersBee is a virtual Quilt Guild
where members share their love for the quilts and quiltmaking. Posts to
QuiltersBee should be of a nature that would be discussed publicly at a
quilt guild meeting. Topics of discussion may touch on all aspects of
quilters' lives. We are friends who care about and support each other
through good times and bad. No commercial postings. Please be polite and
respectful of other members' feelings and points of view. Political and
religious discussions are to be avoided.
To change your settings, go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/quiltersbee/
You will need to sign into yahoo first. If you do not already have a yahoo
ID, click on the "sign up now" hyperlink and create an ID for
yourself. (Be sure to review the information on your Yahoo ID card. Click
on "Edit Your Marketing Preferences". When you get to the
Marketing Preferences page, read through it and make sure to check
"no" if you don't want your name, address and/or phone number
sold. The default is "yes", so don't skip this step unless you
like lots of junk mail! )
Once you have done that, go back to the http://groups.yahoo.com/group/quiltersbee/
page and sign in. This will take you to the Description page. Click on
"edit my membership" on the upper right hand side. On the bottom
of that page, you will be able to choose your membership options. You can
also select to receive E-mail in HTML or text format. If you select text
format, you will not receive picture ads from yahoo on the bottom of every
E-mail, which might speed your download time a little.
To start sending messages to members of this group, simply send email
to quiltersbee@yahoogroups.com. When replying, please delete portions of
the message not relevant to the discussion. Use appropriate subject lines.
Don't send Virus warnings, chain letters (etc) or detailed announcements
about swaps. It's okay to refer someone to a web page to read the details
of your swap, though. If you need one, E-mail krisdriessen@yahoo.com for a
web page on the Quiltersbee home page. Be respectful of copyright laws.
Don't ask or offer copying of a pattern. Let's keep our wonderful pattern
designers in business!
Attachments can't be sent to the list. Use the Yahoo Groups shared
picture file - and be sure to let the group know so we can all go on a
field trip! See directions at http://www.Quiltersbee.com/qbjoin.htm#Using
If you later decide to rejoin the list with a new E-mail address, just
go to http://www.quiltersbee.com/qbjoin.htm
and put your new address in
the "join" box. A message will be sent to your new E-mail
address giving you a link to directly join the list. Click on the link,
read the page, and click on "continue" on the bottom. That will
take you right to the "join this group page".
At the bottom of the Join this Group page, you select the option of
regular mail or digest mail. You can also select to receive E-mail in HTML
or text format. If you select text format, you will not receive picture
ads from yahoo on the bottom of every E-mail, which might speed your
download time a little.
You will then get a "membership pending" page. (I have to
manually approve all memberships, which I hope will keep spammers out!) In
the upper right hand section of that page is the "Account Info"
hyperlink. Click on that, sign in again, then review the information on
your Yahoo ID card. Click on "Edit Your Marketing Preferences".
When you get to the Marketing Preferences page, read through it and make
sure to check "no" if you don't want your name, address and/or
phone number sold. The default is "yes", so don't skip this step
unless you like lots of junk mail!
To eliminate the advertisements that
are in your list email messages, go to your My Groups page and click on
Edit My Group, then E-mail Preferences. Click on the Options button to the
right of your E-mail address. Then look for "Message Format Convert
to HTML" Make sure this section is NOT checked. The "Do not
convert to HTML"" box *should* be checked. While you are there,
uncheck the box allowing yahoo to share your mailing address unless you
really don't mind lots of unsolicited E-mail. Then be sure to click on
Save Changes.
Please keep this note. It contains a lot of information you may need
again.
Enjoy!
